I had a call the other day from one of our students who had a question about one of the test yourself activities in our infection control course. If you’ve taken one of our courses, you know that our elearning design is much different from other providers. We design courses to be immersive, engaging, and to get you excited about learning, but a drag and drop activity puzzled this learner, so she is the inspiration for this post.
A drag and drop activity is a fun approach to assess what you know about a particular topic, without taking away from the effectiveness of learning. For example, you may be asked to match a term with its definition. Rather than answering a multiple choice question, you can drag the term and drop it on its definition.
Why does it keep snapping back?
Consider that matching example. When you drop a term on the wrong definition, it will snap back to its original position. Take a look at the video below so you can see what I’m talking about. (Note: Not all drag and drop activities are the same. The behavior of the activity is controlled by the elearner designer.)
In the spirit of learning and the holidays, I thought it would be fun to create a holiday trivia game as a drag and drop activity. Check out this example and don’t forget to let us know what you think!
